Plockton! West of Scotland coast. Lake District. London.

Where in the world would you love to visit?

Venice, Norway fjords, loads of places that are not hot!

What would you do on an ideal date?

Pleasant conversation, maybe a nice meal, some gentle pleasant drinking of fine ale or wine, seeing smiles, nervous excitement, and who knows what else . . . .

What are you looking for in a partner?

Nice face, ready smile, intelligent eyes, gentleness, generosity not of money but of spirit. Somebody nice to wake up next to.

What makes a good relationship?

The ability to empathise. Generosity of heart. Respect.

What makes you laugh?

All sorts of things! Wit, word play, Tommy Cooper. Broad stupidity. Sometimes I giggle nervously at terrible things - to release the tension I suppose. Never cruelly.

What music do you like?

classical, blues, jazz, folk, world, Mozart, Beatles, tuba, loads!

What has been the highlight of your life so far?

Having two splendid children - now grown men. Having grandchildren.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

Opening up all sorts of exciting futures which I do not yet know.
